SunRisers Hyderabad lost to Gujarat Titans in Match 56 in Ahmedabad on Tuesday. A good effort from our bowlers saw us restrict the home side to 168 runs batting first but we couldn’t get over the line.
Earlier in the day, after winning the toss, SunRisers Hyderabad skipper Pat Cummins opted to bowl first - a decision that paid off immediately. SRH’s bowling attack struck early to put the opposition under pressure, with Shubman Gill and Jos Buttler both dismissed inside the powerplay.
The Men in Orange maintained excellent control through the opening overs, executing their plans with precision and intensity. Sakib Hussain delivered another impactful spell, while the fielding unit backed the bowlers brilliantly on the night.
Praful Hinge produced a sharp catch at short third to help Sakib remove Sai Sudharsan just when he was looking set, further strengthening SRH’s grip on the innings. The bowling group continued to keep things tight through the middle overs, preventing any major momentum shift.
Our bowlers’ disciplined effort towards the end ensured the opposition was restricted to 168/5. Pat Cummins returned with an impressive 1/20 in four overs while Praful and Sakib picked up two wickets each.
After the break, the chase never got going with wickets falling quickly. Although the batting performance was not up to the expectations, there were plenty of positives to take for the bowling unit.
We travel next to Chennai in pursuit of confirming a top four position. The game against Chennai Super Kings will be played on May 18.
