It wasn’t meant to be for SunRisers Hyderabad at Uppal against Kolkata Knight Riders on Sunday, as our five-match winning run came to a halt.
After opting to bat, we started with positive intent and quickly took control of the game. Travis Head led the charge with a breathtaking 61 off just 28 deliveries, taking the attack on from the outset and putting us in a commanding position. His innings, filled with clean hitting and clever manoeuvering of gaps, set the tone perfectly.
At the other end, Ishan Kishan provided excellent support with a composed 42 off 29 balls, ensuring we maintained momentum through the powerplay and beyond. While the middle overs didn’t quite go our way, the foundation laid at the top ensured we posted a competitive 165 on the board — a total that kept us well in the contest on a challenging surface.
With the ball, we looked to strike early and stay aggressive. Pat Cummins struck early to dismiss Finn Allen.
Sakib Hussain delivered a disciplined spell and picked up a key wicket, while Shivang Kumar also chipped in with an important breakthrough. The effort in the field and with the ball reflected our intent to fight till the very end.
Despite pushing hard and staying in the contest for large phases, we couldn’t quite close it out on the day.
It’s a result that doesn’t take away from the incredible run we’ve built so far. Five wins on the bounce have set a strong foundation, and we continue to be firmly placed in the top half of the table.
