Abhishek, Ishan lead us to a stunning run chase in Jaipur

SunRisers Hyderabad pulled off one of the most memorable chases of the TATA IPL 2026, delivering a sensational all-round batting effort in Jaipur to hunt down 229 with nine balls to spare. In a high-scoring contest, it was our composure, depth, and fearless intent that stood out as we sealed a brilliant five-wicket win.
Bowling first, we did not get off to the best start, but some impressive death over spells made sure we ended the innings on a positive note. Pat Cummins, playing his first match of the season, was outstanding with the ball, returning with figures of 1/27 in four overs.
Eshan Malinga too delivered a brilliant spell, picking two big wickets of Yashasvi Jaiswal and Donovan Ferreira. Praful Hinge, Sakib Hussain and Nitish Kumar Reddy picked one wicket each.
Chasing a steep target, we got off to a positive start despite an early setback. Abhishek Sharma and Ishan Kishan immediately took control, counterattacking with authority and putting the pressure right back on the opposition. Their partnership set the perfect tone for the chase, powering us to 89/1 in the powerplay and ensuring we were always ahead of the asking rate.
Abhishek was once again in sublime touch, playing a fluent knock of 57 off 29 balls, while Ishan Kishan led from the front with a commanding 74 off just 31 deliveries. The duo combined aggression with smart shot selection, laying a rock-solid foundation for the chase.
What truly defined our innings was the collective effort. Contributions came from across the batting unit, with every phase of the chase handled with clarity and control. After the openers’ departure, Heinrich Klaasen stepped in to steady things, while Nitish Kumar Reddy injected fresh momentum with a quickfire 36 off 18 balls.
With the platform set and wickets in hand, we timed the finish to perfection. The final phase was executed with complete composure - accelerating when needed, capitalising on opportunities, and keeping the pressure firmly on.
We wrapped up the chase at 229/5 in just 18.3 overs, showcasing not just power, but also exceptional game awareness and belief.
It was a complete batting performance - aggressive at the top, composed through the middle, and clinical at the finish. A chase of this magnitude reflects the depth, confidence, and fearless approach of SunRisers Hyderabad as we continue to build momentum in the tournament.
