SRH – Top 3 Power-packed Batsmen

Fri Mar 2019

The much-awaited Indian Premier League’s 12th season is scheduled to begin on March 23rd as Chennai Super Kings take on Royal Challengers Bangalore in the season opener.

We ended the 2018 season as the runners-up, and this season we are amongst the favourites to emerge victorious. Last 3 seasons have been some of our best in IPL, winning the coveted trophy in 2016 and qualifying for the playoffs in 2017.

The new season brings another opportunity for us to bring silverware back to our city. The squad is raring to go and with the new talent joining in, we have strengthened every department that will help us during another title charge.

With T20 being such a batting-heavy format, we look at out Top 3 batsmen and what lies ahead of them in the upcoming season.

Manish Pandey

The supremely blessed right-hand batsman, Manish Pandey rose to prominence after he became the 1st Indian batsman to score a century in the 2009 IPL at the age of 18. He slammed 114 runs off 73 balls with 10 boundaries and 4 sixes. That turned out to be just the beginning of a successful IPL career so far.

The Karnataka-born batsman’s previous season left a lot to be desired, especially considering his abilities and the talent he possesses. That only means that he’s even more raring to go and prove a point in IPL 2019.

So far, the 29-year-old has scored 2499 runs in 118 IPL matches with an average of 28.08 and a strike rate of 119.57 with 114 being his highest score. In his IPL career so far, he has smashed 12 fifties and one century. These impressive numbers are a testament of his consistency and with the new season upon us, a solid showing will do our chances of winning the title a world of good.

Kane Williamson

Captain of the New Zealand team, Kane Williamson is undoubtably one of the best batsmen in the world. He proved to be an excellent skipper and batsman for SRH last year, as he stepped in and led us to the 2018 Final.

In IPL 2018, he scored a staggering 735 runs in 17 matches with an average of 52.50 and a strike-rate of 142.44 with 84 being his highest score. He won the Orange Cap last season, proving his worth as a captain and batsman both.

It will be exciting to watch Williamson and we all hope that he is able to replicate his numbers from the season gone by.

David Warner

The swashbuckling left-hand batsman from Australia has been one of our best batsmen since he arrived here at Sunrisers Hyderabad. Warner has played T20 across the world, in leagues in Canada, Caribbean, and Bangladesh. This means that he is match-fit and would be motivated to guide us to another glory year.

The 32-year-old is one of the best openers, and his numbers speak for themselves. He has scored 4014 runs from 114 innings in the tournament with an average of 40.55 and a strike rate of 142.14. These numbers are nothing short of legendary in the IPL, and having him back in the side will give our top-order a much-needed boost.
